Mrs. Ed Miller and her mother, Mrs. Wm. Davis of Hood River, were calling on Miss Norma Davis here Sunday. C. G. Blayden, real estate man of Boardman, was a visitor in town Monday. He stated that his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Blayden of Spokane, visited at their home over the week end. The Lyle Blaydens lived in Hermiston for three years a number of years ago and will be remembered by many here. Here we followed the Huey Long highway and crossed several Long bridges. At Baton Rough we saw the capital building which Is a monument to Huey Long, towering above all other buildings in the city. Louisiana and Missippi are about the same. Here we saw our first baled hay, cut on the low lands. It is a wild grass and is baled in fifty pound bales and as hairy as a por cupine. There is no herd law in this country and the stock feeds on the highway. Here we saw razoi back hogs which would be killed for runts if one of our farmers found them in his herd. Their snouts are as long as their bodies, but they say they are buiìt that way so they can drink water out of a pine stump. “When we entered Louisiana the tax on gasoline jumped three cents and you received a token with every five cent purchase—but someone has to pay for the improvements.
