S. C. Russell secured the contract for carrying the U. S. mall to and from the trains. Victor Hango has had this work for a number of years, and since he moved to Glendale, Calif., recently, J. E. Barlow has been substituting. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ingles and Miss Clara Ruff were dinner guests of Lexington friends last Wednesday evening. The railroad tie gang which has been stationed at Messner for the past two weeks moved to Munley last Wednesday. Noel Klitz, Jack LaLonde and G. E. Sturm, local men who were working with the crew here will continue with them. Mrs. H. B. Thomas was a Pendle ton visitor last Thursday. Bible study class is held at the Community church every second and fourth Wednesday evenings under the leadership of Rev. H. B. Thomas- Everyone is cordially invited to at tend. Mr. and Mrs- Al Macomber of Hep pner were visiting relatives here over the week end. Mrs. W. VanWinkle of Lexington spent Sunday at the Harlan Jones farm. Miss Sylvania Edmondson visited with friends on the project over the week end. Rev. Wieble, District Sunday School Missionary, organized a Sun day school at Irrigon last Sunday, and regular meetings will be held each Sunday at 2:00 p. m. Rev. O. W. Payne of Hermiston will deliver the sermon next Sunday. Mrs. Margaret Farley of Willow Creek spent Sunday at the Pete Sie vin home. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wetherall and daughters of Arlington, visited at the Y. P. Rutherford home last Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Norkoskl and family attended the dance at Biggs Saturday night. Charles Chandler from Willow Creek was in Boardman Tuesday. Mrs. Geo. Miller and son Alvin of Ione spent Sunday in Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Landers and children of La Grande visited sev eral days at the Slanger home last week. Mrs. Bryce Dillabough returned home last Monday after a stay in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sanford of Salem visited at the J. M. Allen home last Monday and Tuesday and at the W. O. King home Tuesday evening, leaving Wednesday morning for their home. Mrs. Sanford will be remem bered as Alice Calkins. Mr. and Mrs. Y. P. Rutherford and Mrs. Dan Ransier were Arling ton visitors last Monday. Mrs. Henry Graves, who has been in The Dalles hospital for some time, is reported to be improving rapidly. Bryce Dillabough has rented the Dingman house and It is being re paired now.
