Both mother and daughter are doing well. J. A. Clarke, manager of the local Hermiston Light & Power company, made a business trip to Spokane, Wn., Saturday, returning Sunday. Mrs. Harry McMillen who had a surgical operation in the Hermiston Medical hospital recently, was re- leased from the hospital Wednesday, December 14. The Misses Shirley and Mary Brownson are expected home from 0. S. C. Sunday to spend the Christ- nas holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Brownson. Legion Dance New Years.—Adv Mrs. E. Schofield and daughter of Vancouver, Wn., who has been visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Warner, for the past week, returned to her home Monday. The Misses Eva Bartsch. Cather ine McBain. Magdolene Buck, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pearson were dinner guests of Miss Nell Reeves Sunday. Bud Arnold and Dale Bennett of La Grande stopped in Hermiston Wednesday night enronte to Port land. Mr, Arnold visited his parents. Arnold for a Mr. and Mrs. Wm. hort while. W. II. Beard, father of Mrs. G. D. Best, left Wednesday for Eugene where he will visit his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Napper. Leatherwood, who was gored by a bull while employed on the Lynch ranch west of town severa weeks ago, is. still a patient in the local hospital. His condition is im- proving. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Thornton of Pendleton arrived in Hermiston We nesday and have taken rooms .in the Wm. Shaar residence. Mr. Thorntor Is employed on the Wallula cut-of highway. Turkey dinner Sunday. Hunter's R. Alexander of Pendleton, and vice president of the First National Bank of Hermiston, was a busines: visitor in town Wednesday. He visit P. Dodd ed his daughter, Mrs. and family. ORPHEUM S CHRISTMAS FEATURE AT OASIS. Having reached the height of her stage career and desiring the experience of domesticity and moth- erhood more than anything else in life, she pauses to adopt a child and to consider a love marriage. But it teems that real happiness is not for her as her shady past Is ever rising to humiliate her and defeat her plans.
