He said he had been sent home on detail work and was ac companied by two other buddies who remained on the train until he brought them some coffee, for which he had the money to pay. From the story told by this ex- service man the conditions in the camp of the bonus army are worse than has been portrayed. For break- fast they get one cup of coffee, a slice of bread, and cereal without sugar or cream. He says that a big percentage of the army are unmar ried men. He and his buddies left Washington Friday, July 8, and made good time until they reached St. Couis. From then on the train men were not so obliging as to tell them which train to catch to make the best time, he said. H.
