ATTEMPT MADE ON GREEK RULER'S LIFE A thens, Greece.—T he p resident of G reece, Admiral Paul Kondouriotis, was severely wounded by a 25-year- old w aiter who attem p ted to assassin ate him. The p resident was en terin g his auto mobile in front of the Municipal build ing, w here he had form ally opened the congress of the G reek m ayors. Two shots w ere fired a t the presi dent. One of th e bullets struck him in the head, having first passed through the w indshield of th e car, which was sh attered in the p resid en t’s face. Crowds rushed a t th e assailan t, Zatioos Ooussios, and attem p ted to lynch him, but he w as saved by police who h u rried him off to jail. Morrow, new ly appointed A m erican am bassador to Mexico, presented his credentials S aturday to P resident Calles in a form al and elaborate cerem ony a t the national palace. The presentation was made in the historic Sala De Los Em bajadores, which was filled to over flowing with cabinet m em bers, high m ilitary officers In full d ress uniform, o th er m em bers of the diplom atic corps and an unprecedented num ber of A m erican citizens. In his brief address, A m bassador Morrow announced to the Mexican governm ent th at A m erican diplomacy in th is country would be based on m utual respect.
