He is stalk ing before you. Are you flirting with the damp misty shadows of wasteful ness without giving thought to its effects on your future— or are you reiagatlug “His Grlmness” to the past by taking advantage of the op portunities of today? Don’t let the ghost dance on the grave of one of your dolars that have been thought lessly murdered. Learn to spend les than your income— eliminate the waste— keep the result and let the Ghosts dwell in the graveyard of the past. Let us tell you what happiness saving bring to others. Louis banker friend who met in a self-serve restaurant one of his own employees. As the banker and hla clerk sat munching their simple ra tions, the employee happened to look at hla watch. “Handsome watch, that." remarked the banker. “Yes,” replied the clerk, “It la a nice watch. Funny thing about that, too”— and he went on to tell how he hap pened to buy the watch. It seems that he was short of money at a roadhouse one night and was obliged to cash a cheek for 840, though he chanced at that moment to have no funds to his credit. The next morning he tried to oorrow money to deposit before the check should come in, but was unable to raise more than $.'■ While wonder ing what to do, he happened to see the sign of an installment Jewelry place. There be bought a 875 watch on a down payment of 85—after proving that he had a good business connec tion—and a few minutes later he pawned the watch for 840, which he promptly deposited against the check of the night before. I should immediately have dis charged the fellow,” the banker said. In telling the clerk’s story. "He was too slick a man to have around a bank. But I didn't, and now—well, sure enough, last week he got away with $23,000.”—Fred C. Kelly in The Nation’s Business.
