Between drinks the “Mate's” one subject of conversation with the Kid was that she “get a eddication.” When the "Mate" was murdered, the Kid start ed out to get what her dad said she ought to have, and became involved in some exciting and romantic adven tures. She fell in love with a young sheepherder who rescued her when she had fallen from her horse onto a ledge of a cliff. A picturesque cowpuncher took her under his protection and promised t see that she. got her ‘‘eddication,” whatever that meant, even going to the length of beating up an innocent old college professor who tried to explain that an education .wasn't a vegetable, but something to be ac quired by study.
