F riday , noyfmbfk a, ne* Cedar Residents Are Given Surprise A rea l su rp rise greeted Mr. and Mrs. C. H. H opkins of the Cedar d istric t last T uesday evening, when nine carlo ad s of friends from S er vice Circle, N eighbors of Wood c ra ft. of P o rtlan d drove into their yard w ith a ru sh and a ro ar. The occupants of th e ca rs, dressed in comic costum es, tootiug horns and blow ing w histles, dem anded th a t the doors be throw n wide open for an old fashioned H allowe'en. T he evening w ent m errily w ith dancing, singing and cards. At a late hour heavily laden b askets w ere brought forth by the guests and a h ea rty repast w as indulged in by all. Tnen dishes w ere clean ed up, tables disappeared and all signs of disorder rem oved by the guests, afte r w hich the fun co n tin ued to a late hour. T here have been 150 carloads of celery and cauliflow er shipped from T ro u td ale to date and the g row ers a re still shipping. Mrs. H. E. The senior class has begun p rac tice on its class play, "The T hree G races,” w hich was sent for sev era l weeks ago. The en tire cast contains 28 ch a racters. T he first reh e arsal w as held T uesday night. A m asquerade p arty w as given Monday evening by the M isses Inga A rneson and Mabel C ham berlain in Mr. A rneson’s em pty sto re b u ild ing. T h irty or 40 stu d en ts a tte n d ed in all m an n er of costum es. W itches, goblius, pirates, bats, all were represen ted . The room was decorated in orange and black. Games w ere played u n u til 10:30, w hen refresh m en ts w ere served. The p arty broke up at 11:30.
