Will Be Celebratet
T he 85th a n n iv ersary of Found
e r s ' Day, th e day w hen th e pro
visional governm ent of Oregon was
organized, will be celebrated at
Cham poeg p ark on th e ea st bank
of th e W illam ette riv e r 33 m iles
south of P o rtlan d , S aturday, May 5
u n d er th e auspices of th e Oregon
P ioneer association and th e Ore
gon H istorical society.
T his event, w hich occurs annual
iy a t the sam e place, th e site of the
organization of th e first A m erican
governm ent on th e Pacific coast
rec alls a tra in of rich h istorical
happenings dear to th e h e a rts of
those interested in the early devel­
opm ent of th e w est .
T his an n iv ersary w ill be the 28th
celeb ratio n and picnic and will be
presided over for th e day by Judge
P. H. D’Arcy, a pioneer of 1855 and
p ast p resid en t of th e
Oregon
P ioneer association in 1910. The ex
ercises w ill begin a t noon w ith a
picnic dinner and the afternoon
filled w ith ap p ro p riate addresses,
in te rsp ersed w ith m usical num bers.

w ill occupy a p rom inent place on
th e program .
