F rom N anaim o they m otored 70 m iles south over th e M alahat drive to V ictoria. From V ictoria th e p a rty ferried acro ss th e boisterous s tr a it of Ju n a de F uca, landing at P o rt A ngeles, W ashington. They re p o rt th is 3- hour boat ride as an exceedingly rough one, the s tra it being very choppy. This is 26 m ore than w ere enrolled a year ago on open ing day. Of the 402 pupils, 64 a re first g raders and they com pose an in terestin g group. Book lists w ere given out y ester day and eager boys and girls w ere to be seen on the stre e ts th ro u g h out th e day discussing the various phases of the books w hich are to be th eir com panions for the m onths to come.
