C. Johnsou is con- <Iuctor, was adjudged the best, -md in addition to th e cash aw ard was given a handsom e ebony baton with ivory handle and gold trim m ed, enclosed in u velvet-lined case. T his special prize w as aw arded th e band for th e cond u cto r's use. St. Jo h n s was given second place in th e * om petltlon, Oregon City th ird and H ubbard fourth.
