Johnson, who has heen in G resham the past week w ith her husband at his boarding place, left yesterday m orning for New York to spend the sum m er w ith relatives. Mr. Johnson is forem an of highw ay construction w ork on the Loop road betw een the C lackam as county line and Sandy. Mrs. T. M. C raw ford sustained a com pound fra c tu re of h er left leg la st Monday w hile a t her work around the house. T he inju ry at first w as thought to be not serious, b u t a la te r X -ray revealed the dou ble break. The re tu rn trip w as made via Tillam ook, m aking in all a delightful drive of over 300 m iles for th e day. C. A. Hoyt of Caldw ell, Idaho, a new spaper man, called at the O ut look office Friday. Mr. Hoyt fo r m erly published th e W ilder H erald nt W ilder, Idaho, and was forem an of th e Caldwell T ribune since then. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. R usher nnd children, Guy. F lorence and Irene, expect to leave th is week for a tw o- w eeks’* trip to Oakland and B erke ley, California, w here they will visit Paul nnd M yrtle R usher and a num ber of acquaintances. The first year will he spent at Hebron, North Dakota, w here she has taken over a class of 35 in piano and violin. C ham berlain of C orbett, Oregon, has successfully passed th e en tra n ce exam ination for m idshipm an in th e navy and will be tra n sfe rre d to th e Naval Academy to en ter th e next class about Ju ly 1. A m axim um of one hundred men yearly from the enlisted personnel of the navy receive th ese ap p o in t m ents. C ham berlain’s success in passing this exam ination has req u ired six m onths of intensive study as well as alm ost perfect behavior and a thoroughly satisfacto ry d em o n stra tion as to his q ualities of lead er ship.
