C. T. U. sta te convention will be held on T hursday afternoon a t 2:30 at the library. It is hoped every com m it tee will be rep resen ted in full. W. C. Burch has retu rn ed from a hunting trip near Roseburg. He guid ed a hunting p arty o f five to th e head w aters of the Umpqua riv er and on his retu rn trip had the good fortune to shoot two deer w ithin a m ile and a half of the city lim its of Roseburg. O thers in th e p arty also scured th e ir lim it Mr. and Mrs. R. N. C arothers, of St. Johns, spent S atu rd ay night and Sun day at the form er's father, C. A. Ca rothers. The Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Wood re tu rn ed F riday evening from Seaside w here they had spent tw o weeks. They retu rn ed home a t least two weeks sooner th an they had intended on account of th e illn ess of Mr. Wood He w as taken with nervous ailm ents while th e re and was obliged to consult a physician.
