S a le W ill Be U n d er C over T hrough a decision ren d ered by Judge E vans In th e circu it co u rt a few days ago Mrs. Mary P eterson, of Gillis, will regain possession of her prem ises th e re w hich she had leased to Solo mon K aucher. He had rented the place for five years, but had become in a rre a rs for th e re n t and had failed to m ake o th er im provm ents around the p ro p erty w hich he had promised. W hen it w as attem pted to evict him, he resisted and m ade every effort to rem ain in possession of the ranch, ac cording to evidence brought out at the trial. The case first cam e up in justice co u rt in Ju ly , but on account of the disputed title to the place, it w as nec essary to certify the litigation to the circ u it court. By th e decision of the judge, the defendant will be forced to vacate a t once. W. J. Cooper re p re sented Mrs. P eterso n in co u rt and the case for Mr. K aucher was handled by A ttorney Dan K enny, of P ortland. A lthough th e re w as a ju ry present. Judge E vans gave a direct verdict, as th e evidence was clearly In favor of the plaintiff. A useful life cam e to a peaceful close som etim e during S atu rd ay night when Roy Stone, aged 44 years, passed aw ay during sleep from chronic h eart trouble. He had been an invalid for many y ea rs but, n evertheless, had been active in com m unity and civic a f fairs and leaves a host of friends. Mr. S tone’s home was at Fairview w here he leaves a widowed m other, Mrs. Eliza Stone, two b ro th ers, Clyde and Cedric H„ and a sister, Mrs. Lena Anderson. The deceased w as a m em ber of the Fairview city council and six of th a t hotly acted as p allb ea re rs a t th e fu neral w hich was held th is afternoon at 2 o ’clock at th e Sm ith M emorial P re s b y terian church. He w as also a m em ber of th e F airview gran g e and th a t body officiated in th e services at the grave. He w as buried In the Masonic cem etery at P ark Rose. T he Rev. E. R. D.
