It m ight be expected th a t in the tem porary reaction a g a in st prohibi tion the big s ta r t would come from a sta te like New York w ith Its large population of foreigners who are stra n g e rs to A m erican Ideals, and its large money in te re sts w hich are , sad to say, too often closely allied w ith th e foes of righteousness.
