T his action does not affect national
prohibition a t all, unless th e action of
th is sta te be taken as an exam ple and
incentive by o th e r states. Indeed, th a t
is the Indication now, as it is reported
W isconsin will try out its people on
the sam e question.
I t sim ply m eans th a t the enforce­
m ent of prohibition In New York sta te
w ill be in th e hands of federal au
th o rities instead of sta te authorities.
It is a backw ard step, w ithout
doubt, but th a t Is w h at the liquor ele­
m ent is w orking for and alw ays has
