Oregon, under the A ct of March 2, 187# A L E TH E SE A M I TH EN HOME. All In all the fa ir this y ear with Its Chautauqua, m idway and side show situations, is the biggest a f fair ever put on in the county out side of Portland. If we were to list the main fea tures we would arrange them thus: G range exhibits. County exhibits. General displays of agriculture and livestock. C hildren’s club work. Machinery and autos Chuutuuqua programs. Races. Demonstrations. Concessions. Midway shows. , Alm ost any one featu re Is worth an admission to the grounds, but once Inside one can see enough to last him until another fa ir time. Jf anyone complains that he did X not get his m oney's worth he shows 1 ‘ som ething is wrong In his upper, story. He is eith er too angelic to en-1 Joy anything earthly or too base to appreciate a good th in g 'w h e n h e ' sees it. TH E FIN AN C IAL PR O B LE M . How the fair board will come out financially will not be known for several days a fter the close of the ' fair. The Outlook hopes to publish the financial statem ent as soon as available. The Indications are that with record attendance today and to- morrow the receipts will cover t h e , ? >U 11 t i l l iw io u lh lir expenses and possibly more. The fair this year started with a big handicap. ltulns discouraged r many last Sunday and Monday. Mon day and Tuesday were wet days and a wet day hurts a county fair where so much is out of doors The failure of llghtB for two nights In the middle of the week re sulted in a heavy (lnnneial loss. This loss will only be offset In sm all part by in creased attendance the lust three days and nights. ’ There Is every Indication that peo ple both of the country districts and of the city are desirous that the debts should be wiped out, the grounds and buildings Improved and the county fuir continue at this location with all the assurances of success. h-nh-s” ami "M oontdilnc." Last Friday evening the Gleaner B ible class of the Zion Evangelical church enjoyed a wiener and mural,- j mallow roast in ltum ser's woods out | nt Damuseus. The place selected was I11 a grove of hr trees which was 1 faintly illum ined by the fu ll moon through the tree tops. ) The fun began with the gume of drop the handkerchief and the ’ ’ mush pot" was kept well stirred. Ob. say! there was nothing slow about that hunch. Stories and jokes kept up the spirits of all during the rest of the evening as they sat around the little tire under the trees and roasted wieners and m arshm al lows and feasted on nil the good things to eat. The coffee was piping hot, the w ater was, oh! so cold, and the moonshine was genuine. It was late that night when the lire was carefu lly extinguished and the nierry-m ukers went home with the feelin g that the G leaner class was "a ll r ig h t" and that this waa not the last evening of the kind they would spend together.
