Her motto is “Small town, big dreams”; the Boardman community helped in the VHOHFWLRQSURFHVV:LWKWKH new motto, the city was able to create a new logo. The logo, and variations of it, will be visible around The Boardman City Coun- cil also revealed their new Council Mission State- ment: “The Boardman City Council believes responsi- ble leadership is built on principles of transparency, communication, integrity, and the desire to serve our citizens with the shared goal towards the betterment RIRXUFRPPXQLW\:HZLOO actively listen, involve, and work together to foster growth and prosperity for the good of all residents. Through unified actions, we believe small towns can realize big dreams.” Heppner Drama presents: Beauty and the Beast Pioneer Memorial Hospital Foundation Grants Scholarships to Local Youth The Pioneer Memorial Hospital Foundation board met on May 13th to award student scholarships for working towards a career LQWKHPHGLFDO¿HOG The Board awarded DQ (DUO DQG +D]HO :LOVRQ Scholarship for $2500.00 to Emma Mueller. Emma is attending Notre Dame of Maryland University in her third year obtaining her nursing degree. Kevin Murray was also awarded DQ (DUO DQG +D]HO :LOVRQ Scholarship for $2500.00. Kevin is a second-year den- tal student at Oregon Health & Science University. Jes- sica Kempken was awarded a scholarship for 2000.00. She is a third-year pharma- cy student at Oregon State/ Oregon Health and Sci- ence University pursuing a Doctorate in Pharmacy along with a dual MBA degree. Rubi Juarez was awarded a scholarship for $2000.00. She is attending Oregon State University LQ KHU ¿UVW \HDU SXUVXLQJ a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bio- physics. Receiving schol- arships in the amount of IRUWKHLU¿UVW\HDU of college are Zane Acock, Emeli Cardenas-Arellano, Morgan Cutsforth, Irelynn Kollman, Jazmin Meza, and $ULDQQD:RUGHQ The Pioneer Memorial Hospital Foundation was formed in 1981 to pro- mote good health through outstanding local medical care and to encourage and assist young people to en- ter careers in medicine through scholarships. It LVQRQSUR¿WDQGDQ\GRQD- tions given to aid in grants and scholarships are tax deductible. Lawnmowers, weedeaters, and tractors with bush- hog mowers moved in and in short order had the cemetery-looking ship- shape. Several century- old gravestones have very decorative and unusual inscriptions, with many pioneer families interned there. Many thanks to all who helped out with the clean-up.
