On May 4, that Brosnan granddaughter Amy, the se- nior at West Salem, completed her participation in the KRQRUVFKRLUZKHQLWHDUQHG³¿UVWSODFH´DWWKH2UHJRQ 6A Choir Competition in Corvallis, a rewarding cap to her high school singing performances. And on the 23 rd , she will have a lead in the drama, “Radium Girls,” just days before walking across the stage to receive her di- ploma. On May 7, some members of the Bookworms book club – Jackie Allstott, Cara Osmin, Claudia Hughes, Ann Spicer, Sally Walker, Doris Brosnan – traveled to Herm- iston to visit member Pat Edmundson in her and her hus- band, John’s, new digs at Guardian Angel Homes. After a lengthy chat that included the Edmundsons’ daughter Kristy, mostly about books, and some tasty refreshments SURYLGHG E\ WKH VWD൵ WKH JURXS HQMR\HG D WRXU RI WKH couple’s two adjoining roomy apartments. After a two- hour visit and promises to repeat, the Heppner group re- turned home under sunny skies. Prizes for those games were added to trivia prizes of gift cards to the Cardinal Café, lottery tickets, and caramel corn. Following in her cousin’s footsteps? Olivia Wood will make her debut on BMCC’s Bob Clapp Theater stage as a munchkin in the Pendleton Ballet Theatre’s “The Wizard of Oz,” playing on May 23, 24, and 25. Olivia is the six-year-old daughter of Sean and Laurie Murray Wood. Her cousin Cori Jo Lindsay, who has graced the stage in previous productions, daughter of Joe and Leanne Lindsay, will return as the scarecrow in this familiar story. The second stop (a winter wheat variety trial) will take place in the Fourmile Canyon area. At- tendees will have a chance to look at some early-ma- turing wheat varieties from around the PNW. The Board of Commissioners approved the addition of two posi- WLRQVWR¿OOQHHGHGUHTXLUH- ments and bolster proper OHYHOV RI VWD൶QJ WR KDQ- dle the growing needs of the County. These posi- tions include the Assistant County Administrator and Finance Manager. These two positions have recent- O\EHHQ¿OOHGDQGERWKVWDUW the week of May 13th. Vincent Guerrero has been hired as Assistant County Administrator. This is a department head-level position that reports to the County Administrator and supervises several small- er departments. Vincent will oversee the County’s H൵RUWV ZLWK WKH 7UDQVLW System, Veteran Services, Parks, Fair, Facilities, and Tourism. Vincent comes to Morrow County from Pasco, WA where he has recently been in the Rec- reation Services depart- ment with an emphasis on implementing programs, events, and activities to meet the needs of the pub- lic. Vincent has over 20 years of municipal expe- rience and has a Master of Public Administration GHJUHH DQG LV D &HUWL¿HG Public Manager. Vincent grew up in Moses Lake, WA where his parents still run an alfalfa farm and run cattle. He loves the rural life of eastern Washington/ Oregon and appreciates WKHLUVLJQL¿FDQWYDOXH Tamara “Tami” Ew- ing joins Morrow County as the new Finance Man- ager. Working under the Finance Director, Tami will direct the day-to-day ¿QDQFLDO RSHUDWLRQ RI WKH County as the Finance Di- rector focuses on strategic initiatives and planning. Tami brings a wealth of ¿QDQFH H[SHULHQFH ZLWK D strong emphasis on grant management and compli- ance. Tami was recently with Lincoln County, OR where she served as Assis- tant Finance Director for the Health and Human Ser- vices department. Tami has a bachelor’s in accounting IURP /LQ¿HOG &ROOHJH DQG 25 years of experience. During the COVID years, she worked remotely from Eastern Oregon and has fallen in love with the area. She is looking forward to bringing her experience to Morrow County where she can enjoy the region with- out the hassle of remote work.
