Dollar General completes purchase of Main Street property New store opening slated for early next year By David Sykes The purchase of prop- erty has been completed and a new Dollar General store will soon be built and open on Main Street in Heppner. Construction is expected to be completed and the new store open for business by early next year, a store spokesperson told the Gazette-Times Monday. “Dollar General is cur- rently under construction on a new location at 388 N. Main St. in Heppner. At this time, a store opening is slated for early 2022, but understand that construc- tion progress may alter this date,” said Katie Ellison, senior manager for public relations. According to docu- ments filed at the court- house, the property was purchased by Heppner BTS Retail, LLC, an Oregon limited liability company with headquarters in Lake- wood, Ohio. Dollar Gen- eral will apparently lease the store from BTS when completed. The property was purchased from Heppner businessman Alvin Liu for $375,000. Dollar General’s land pur- chase for the new store in- cluded an RV park, adjacent gift and coffee shop on .6 acres, and a two-bedroom home on .2 acres at 315 Chase Street. Other legal documents pertaining to the deal and filed at the courthouse Mon- day, include a mortgage and security agreement between BTS Retail, LLC, and Fifth Third Bank of Rosemont, Illinois. The note and deed of trust covers an initial $1.9 million line of credit to build the new store, with a total line of credit up to $3.8 million. According to Dollar General, the store will sell “quality, name-brand and private brand merchan- dise such as foods, health and beauty products, home cleaning supplies, house- wares, stationery, seasonal items and basic clothing.” In its statement to the Ga- zette-Times, Dollar General emphasized the compa- ny is “deeply involved in the communities it serves and is an ardent supporter of literacy and education through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which awards grants each year to nonprofit organizations, schools and libraries within a 15-mile radius of a Dollar General store or distribu- tion center to support adult, Sale of this Main Street property has been completed and construction of a new Dollar General store will now begin in Heppner.
