Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Wednesday, August 4, 2021 -- SEVEN Morrow County 4-H shooting sports takes off What started as a hand- ful of youth in 2019 with shotgun and clay shooting only, has grown and diver- sified in the subsequent two years. Thanks to volunteers Adam and Rachel Archer, Andrea DiSalvo, Ed Riet- mann, Donnie Griggs, Erin Heideman and Stan Cuts- forth, the shooting sports program has grown to 40 members and now includes rifle, pistol, archery and shotgun. In a typical year, the club shoots at the Lex- ington Gun Club November through March. With the onset of COVID, the sched- ule was changed slightly with the bulk of shooting for the club happening this past spring. All youth must provide their own tools and ammunition and follow set shooting guidelines each month. They also have the option of registering to be considered for the State 4-H Shooting event which will occur this year August 30, 31 and September 1 in Shedd, OR. Participants this year were: Shotgun, Juniors: Jona- thon Ashbeck, Gage Heide- man, Jace Wilson; Inter- mediates: Preslie Bowles, Morgan Cutsforth, Carter Eynetich, Radley Griggs, Adan Guerra, Owen Guer- ra, Chase Lantis, Aden Lathrop; Seniors: Kalvin Rietmann Liam Heideman, Ione, and Jace Wilson, Heppner, shoot with their rifle 4-H volunteer coach, Adam Archer. The Lexington Gun Club allowed the use of Kayelee Jean Espinola and Brayden McNeil, both of Ione, practice their archery skills with MoCo 4-H Shooting Sports. their facilities, Morrow County Livestock Growers donated restroom facilities during shooting months, John Luciani provided 22 rounds and Correa Ranches donated several large bales to act as archery backstops.
