How- ever, the community on the hill was certainly able to enjoy their July 4 th cel- ebration. The annual Lions Club fireworks display was enjoyed as they added pa- triotic songs and ice cream treats to the event. Carrying the celebration of Ameri- ca’s freedom through July are the patriotic-themed wall hangings residents have created (featured on their Facebook page). July continues to be a favorite month on the hill, as several days feature ice cream treats. For instance, on the 19 th , they will hold an ice cream social and the ice cream cone’s 116 th birthday will be properly celebrat- ed on the 25 th (and again on September 22 because disagreement surrounds its nationally assigned day). And maybe Donna Berg- strom made sure that ice cream was included in her menu choices on her birth- day. Donna celebrated with her neighbors today. Happy birthday Donna. Next week will feature Disneyland trivia, as its 65 th anniversary is acknowl- edged on the 17 th . On the 14 th a Homerun Derby will put the Terrace’s balls and bats to work while the MLB either celebrates its 91 st All- Star game or delays it for Covid-19 reasons. July’s morning discus- sion topics will include Fathers and Daughters (7 th ), the Woody Wagon (18 th ) and Horses, the Moon, Fathers-in-Law (30 th ). Res- idents will be invited to create a fair-and-rodeo dec- oration based on a wooden horseshoe, to be featured on their hall walls in Au- gust. And a special, secret event will pay tribute to Gorgeous Grandmas on the 23 rd . Discussion might possibly surround lunch on the 25 th since that is on the calendar as “Act Like a Caveman” day and the menu will feature some uncommon dishes. In June, the Terrace entered the Phase 1 stage of reopening in Oregon, which means that residents are allowed to go out, although no visitors are yet allowed to go into the Terrace. Ad- ministrator Nairns reports, however, the residents have opted to avoid leaving the facility as the numbers of normal.
