Morrow County Dis- trict Attorney Justin Nelson has released the following report: - Abraham Barajas, 20, was convicted of Count 1: unlawful use of a weapon felony class C, committed on or about November 10, 2019. Conviction was based upon a guilty plea on Janu- ary 9, 2020. Defendant is sentenced to the custody of Oregon Dept. of Corrections for a period of 13 months. The term of post-prison super- vision is two years. He is to have no contact with the victims. For Count 3: menac- ing, misdemeanor Class A, committed on or about November 10, 2019, with the conviction based upon a guilty plea on January 9, 2020, the defendant shall be sentenced to discharge. Count 3 is discharged. Count 2: felon in pos- session of a firearm is dis- missed. Count 4: unlawful possession of a firearm is dismissed. Count 5: unlaw- ful possession of a firearm is dismissed. -Juan Rodriguez, Jr., 24, was convicted of Count 1: felon in possession of a firearm, felony class C, committed on or about No- vember 10, 2019. Convic- tion is based upon a guilty plea on December 26, 2019. Fees and assessments pay- able to the court: $200. Defendant is sentenced to the custody of Oregon Dept. of Corrections for a period of 13 months. The term of post-prison super- vision is two years. As a condition of post-prison supervision, there will be no contact with victims, forfeit property seized by the State of Oregon, com- plete alcohol/drug eval and recommended treatment, no drugs without prescription and PPS office notification, not allowed where illegal drugs are kept, used or sold, not use or possess drug paraphernalia and submit to and pay for random drug testing. Count 2: unlawful pos- session of a firearm is dis- missed. Boardman Fire to select new fire chief Five candidates are in the running for the new fire chief at Boardman Rural Fire Protection. A meet and greet is scheduled February 2 from noon to 3 p.m. at the SAGE Center in Boardman. Interviews will take place Monday, February 3 at the Port of Morrow with four panels. Candidates being con- sidered for the position include: -Dale Britton has 27 years in the fire service. He has an associate degree in fire science and has served as a lieutenant in Tumwater, WA for 13 years. -Hal Bumgarner has 28 years in the fire service. He has an associate degree in security administration and is currently a chief officer in Pottawatomie, KS, where he has served since 2017. - John Clark has 40 years in the fire service and has a master’s degree in safety administration. John is currently the fire chief in Baker City, OR, where he has served since 2018. -Adam Cole has 13 years in the fire service and has an associate degree in fire science. Adam is the captain and training officer in Boardman where has served since 2007. -Michael Hughes has 33 years in the fire service. He is currently a volunteer firefighter and has served as a training officer in Twin Bridges, MT since 2014. Community lunch menu Willow Creek Baptist volunteers will serve lunch on Wednesday, January 29 at St. Patrick’s Senior Center. Lunch will be beef stroganoff, wheat bread, parmesan zucchini spears, peas and chilled pears. Milk, coffee and tea is served at each meal. Suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. Menu is subject to change. Annual Morrow County crop tour planned Starvation Farms of Lexington, in cooperation with Morrow and Gilliam County Wheat Growers League and Oregon State University Extension, will be hosting the annual crop tour on Friday, May 15. Equipment dealers from the PNW will be pre- senting drill demonstrations and staff from OSU and USDA will provide grow- ers the newest in research results of test plots. The day begins at noon at Starvation Farms in Lexington. Growers are invited to join a tour bus to get from field to field, complete the tour and then return to the farm shop for dinner and music by the Corey Peterson Band. To be eligible for the President’s or Dean’s List students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours. A total of 4,904 undergraduates were named to the university’s two honor rolls for the 2019 fall semester.
