Jayden Wilson was next with 12 points, five re- bounds and a steal. Brock Hisler scored 10 points, had two rebounds, an as- sist and four steals for the Mustangs. Casey Fletcher chipped in six points, four rebounds, one assist, two steals and he blocked two shots. Kannon Wilkins and Roy Collins had four points each, Collins also recorded three rebounds and had two assists in the game. Grant also had one rebound, one assist, one steal and he blocked a shot. Gavin also had two rebounds, two steals and blocked one shot while Cimmiyotti also blocked an Outlaw shot attempt. Jackson Lehman did not score but he contributed five rebounds, five assist and blocked one shot. The always tough Union Bobcats came to town and it was a battle all game long with them. Heppner fell behind early by the score of 5-0 but then fought back to tie the score at the end of the first quarter of the defensive battle 6-6. The second quarter saw six lead changes as the teams tried to gain the upper hand on each other. As the teams went to the locker rooms at halftime the Mus- tangs had a slim 19-16 lead. Union quickly tied the score 19-19 at the start of the second half, but then the Mustangs took the lead and would not give it back to the Bobcats. Heppner led by as many as seven points in the third quarter and it was 34- 28 in favor of the Mustangs as the teams entered the final frame. The fourth quarter was a back and forth game of runs. The Bobcats tried their best but could only get as close as four points in the quarter. The Mustangs dug deep and stretched their lead to as many as nine points at one time before Union fought back. Heppner made some clutch plays and free throws at the end of the game to preserve the 52-46 win. Wilson had the big scoring night for the Mus- tangs with 23 points. Lehman followed with 12 points, one rebound and one assist in the game. Jackson Lehman scored nine points, had seven rebounds, dished out six assist and had two steals. Hanna Robinson finished with five points, two rebounds and two steals while Grant had two points and two rebounds. Hisler scored a point and had four rebounds and a steal. Cim- miyotti did not score but had three rebounds for the Mustangs. The Mustang JV boys’ team also got two big wins in front of the home fans. They defeated the Outlaws 53-39 and the Bobcats 42- 32. David Cribbs scored three points and Derrick Smith had two. In the game with Union, every member of the JV Mustangs team scored. Ashbeck once again led with 18 points on the night. Fletcher and Blake Car- ter had five points each while Smith and Mikel Jaca both had three points in the game. Scoring two points each in the game for the Mustangs were Blake Wolters, Cribbs, Nichols and Boor. The Mustangs do not play this Friday but will travel to Stanfield on Sat- urday to take on the Tigers.
