The always tough
Union Bobcats came to
town and it was a battle
all game long with them.
Heppner fell behind early
by the score of 5-0 but then
fought back to tie the score
at the end of the first quarter
of the defensive battle 6-6.
The second quarter saw
six lead changes as the
teams tried to gain the upper
hand on each other. As the
teams went to the locker
rooms at halftime the Mus-
tangs had a slim 19-16 lead.
Union quickly tied the
score 19-19 at the start of
the second half, but then the
Mustangs took the lead and
would not give it back to the
Bobcats. Heppner led by as
many as seven points in the
third quarter and it was 34-
28 in favor of the Mustangs
as the teams entered the
final frame.
The fourth quarter was
a back and forth game of
runs. The Bobcats tried
their best but could only
get as close as four points in
the quarter. The Mustangs
dug deep and stretched
their lead to as many as
nine points at one time
before Union fought back.
Heppner made some clutch
plays and free throws at the
end of the game to preserve
the 52-46 win.
Wilson had the big
scoring night for the Mus-
tangs with 23 points. He
also had 10 rebounds and
