He was league Coach of the Year six times (’00, ‘04, ‘05, ‘06, ‘09 and ’10). Nineteen of his players have gone on to play college basketball. The morning session will be from 9 to 11 a.m. for fifth through eighth grade girls, with a focus on fundamentals. The af- ternoon session is from 1 to 3 p.m. for fifth through 12 th grade, with a focus on shooting. The evening ses- sion, from 5 to 8 p.m., will be for Heppner High School team camp. Basketball camp scheduled The Heppner girls bas- ketball team will be hosting a basketball camp on June 11 and 12 at the Heppner Jr/ Sr High school for girls go- ing into fifth to 12 th grades next year. The camp is free to all Heppner students and all girls interested in play- ing basketball are encour- aged to attend. The camp is being led by highly acclaimed Mi- chael Meek of George Fox University. Meek, the 2011- 12 D3hoops.com NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year, became the fastest coach in George Fox history to reach 100 wins in just a five-year span. Meek Morrow County Cul- tural Coalition, funded by Oregon’s Cultural Trust Foundation is now accept- ing proposals for the 2019 grant period now through August 1. Categories for qualifying groups or proj- ects are literary, historical preservation, visual and performing arts, or hu- manities and cultural or- ganizations. Proposals must meet criteria noted on the application and include a timeline with the project to be completed no later than Oct. 15, 2019. HHS to add girls wrestling Heppner High School will be adding girls wres- tling to their sports roster for the next school year. Girls wrestling is now an OSAA sanctioned sport, with girls wrestling other girls at tournaments, includ- ing a district and state meet. A wrestling camp will be held at Heppner High School June 11 through 14 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
