Four Heppner High school students furthered their knowledge about personal finance through a work experience class with Blue Mountain Invest- ment Management. Sophie Grant, Jacee Currin, Madi- son Combe, and Jaiden Mahoney have been work- ing with Rita Van Schoiack since the beginning of the school year. The mission of the group of students is to edu- cate themselves first about important personal finance topics. Then, they use vari- ous platforms such as Face- book, Twitter and a blog to share that knowledge with their peers. Their focus is on topics that will help high school and college students get started with life on their own, including saving, the power of compounding, scholarships, budgeting, and housing expenses. Monday, Feb. 26 the group will be talking about their project on the radio. Tune into KOHU 1360 AM “Odds and Ends Show” at 8 a.m. to listen to the local students. Follow them on Facebook, @blueinvest- forstudents, or Twitter, @ BMIMstudents or read their blog posts on their website www.bluemountaininvest. com/blog.
