These three have all helped bring home the Boy Scouts place flags around Heppner Willow Creek Boy Scout Troop 691 displayed 42 American flags in yards all over Heppner Monday in honor of Memorial Day. Residents who purchased the service as part of the troop’s fundraiser benefit- ted from having the Boy Scouts place the flag in their yard first thing in the morning and display it throughout the day. The fundraiser gives residents the opportunity to have a three-foot by five- foot flag and pole in their front lawn four holidays each year: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Homes around Heppner showed their patriotism Me- morial Day with flags put up by the local Boy Scouts. “It’s not too late to sign up for the remaining holi- days this year,” said Dieter Waite, one of the adult scout leaders for the troop. “We are very pleased with the response and the support we are getting from the community. Many people have commented about how nice the flags look and how important it is to share their patriotic spirit.” For $45 the first year and $40 each subsequent year, members of Troop 691 will place a nylon flag in residents’ yards. The flag are displayed from early in the morning to late in the evening on the four holidays. The next holiday where the flags will be dis- played is Flag Day, Sunday, June 14.
