Hams, Wagenaar announce engagement June 17 was a rainy day for the ladies who showed up for their play day at Willow Creek County Club. Several did show up despite the weather, however; of those, Betty Bums took low gross of the field. Jackie Allstott took low net and Bev Steagall had least putts. For Flight B, Pat Dougherty took low gross and long drive. Sarah Rucker had low net. For Flight C, Bev Steagall had low gross. Judy Harris low net and Betty Bums long drive. Bev Steagall had a chip-in on #9. Sunday men’s play results for June 22 T w e n ty - f iv e m en played in the regular Sunday Men’s Play on June 22. The weather was excellent and the course was in great condition with new flags sponsored by the Bank of Eastern Oregon. Morrow County Grain Growers, and Devin Oil. Results were as follow s: Gross: 1. Barbecue makes golf a family affair Last Sunday's family barbecue at Willow Creek Country Club was hosted by Charlie and Jodi Ferguson, with 13 participants playing a scramble format. Tied for first place with a 33 were Team 1, consisting of Terry and Karen Thompson, John Edmundson, and Team 2, comprised of Gary, Suzanne, Amanda, Emily and Kevin Rea. The next family barbecue will be held July 13 at 4 p.m. k. : ,- 3V Craig Hams and Katie Wagenaar. Theresa Crawford o f Heppner and Craig Hams o f lone an n o u n ce the engagement of their son, Craig Paul Hams, to Katie May Wagenaar, daughter of Ellen Wagenaar of Condon and M ichael and Kelly Ramsay of Hermiston. T he g r o o m - to - b e graduated from lone High School in 2008. He is currently in the Plumbing A p p r e n tic e P ro g ra m th r o u g h C h e m e k e ta Community College and is employed with Jamieson & Marshall in Condon. The b rid e -to -b e graduated from Condon High School in 2008 and went on to Oregon State U n iv ersity , w here she graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in human development and family sciences. She is currently employed with the Department of Human Services in Condon. The couple is planning a July 12, 2014 wedding in the Condon City Park. Marriage Licenses J u n e 5 w a s th e opening day for Willow C reek C ountry C lu b ’s Thursday Night Ladies Play, an evening o f play for beginner- to expert- level players who want to play in a more relaxed g olf environm ent while en jo y in g the com pany o f other women golfers. Results were as follows: Low Net - 1st place, ▼ Those who remember the Lexington Grange may be happy to hear work is being done to reinstate it into active use. Toward that end, clean up days will be held at the Grange hall Wednesday, June 25. and Thursday, June 26, beginning at 6 p.m. The L e x i n g to n G ra n g e 's first o fficial meeting will be held July 10. An in fo rm a tio n a l meeting will be held from 6-7 p.m. with initiation of members to begin at 7 p.m. The Grange operates at a local, state and even national level. The roots of the organization are based in agriculture, and it is a non-profit organization that is open to anyone who is interested. Those now working on the Lexington Grange say they are hoping to support the local community by becoming a meeting place, sponsoring local events and activities, and supporting charitable causes. A ll o f the p eo p le c u rre n tly in v o lv ed in reinstating the grange in Lexington are first-time grange members who say they are learning about the organization as they go. Right to Life group to meet Monday The Morrow County chapter of the Oregon Right to Life will be holding a meeting on Monday, June 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick's parish hall in Heppner. The group will be making plans for a booth at this year’s fair. Anyone who would like to help with the booth, please call 541-676-5975. The public is invited to the meeting. Community lunch menu Heppner United Methodist Church volunteers will serve lunch on Wednesday, July 2, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center.
