Cord Flynn, 12.76a T he l o n e L e g i o n Karsen Dumler, 14.87a Hall now has a new tin roof, thanks to Wildhorse Advantage Dental Clinics LLC Foundation, the Bank of Comprehensive Exam + X-rays for: Eastern Oregon, Columbia Basin Electric, Invenergy, Better Care Ella Farms and numerous Better Health private donors from the Better Value community. The Legion Auxiliary was awarded a grant o f - $ 10,000 from the Wildhorse www.AdvantageDentalClinics.com Foundation to kick off the *0ffer good through 5 /3 0 /2 0 1 4 at the Heppner Clinic, (exam m ust be c irform ed fundraising for the roof. The on or before this date). New patients only, and if you currently do not n »ve a dental provider. Som e restrictions apply. Bank of Eastern Oregon , mäLl fläV W J 888 468-0022 followed with a $5.000 grant. The other companies gave various amounts, and the private donors made the project a reality. Seth Moses Cons t r uct i on won the bid for the roofing. His company started the project on February 3 and hoped to finish within approximately two weeks. Weather did not cooperate; snow and ice made being on the roof hazardous. The completion of the project ended after three weeks. The roof is guaranteed for 20 years on materials and 10 years on workmanship. The total cost came to $23,170. Members o f the Legion say they are very pleased with the results. “Without the help of our generous patrons, the lone Legion Post #95 and the lone Legion Auxiliary Unit #95 would have spent several years doing fundraisers to undertake this project,” said a Legion spokesperson. “ Instead, the fundraising to the completion o f the project took only eight months. The hall is again weather-tight, and other improvements to the inside can be undertaken.” Proud to be part of Morrow County “Hometown People, Hometown Spirit! ” The lone American Legion Hall received a new roof recently thanks to community support. -Contributedphoto DICKENSON RETIRES -Continuedfrom PAGE ONE my grandkids, work on my yard,” says Dickenson, “to do the things I love when I want, not when my job dictates I can do them.” Part of our Heppner branch team from left: Jeremy Arbogast, Ashli Gould, Brianna Peterson, Hannah Lankford, Betty Jo Colvin, Kay Proctor, Meghan McCabe, Sandra Van Liew, KayRene Qualls, Hanna Lovgren, & Joe Perry Seated from left: Tncia Rollins, Bev Crum, & Jessica Peterson Some lead the way so others may follow. There are those rare individuals who set an example for all of us to follow. You’ll find them in church groups, service groups or as individual volunteers. Some work as teachers, in law enforcement, or BEO bankers. Whoever they are, wherever they are, they all have two things in common. They have more attention on others than they do themselves and they make your hometown a better place to live. Set a good example.
