Vote Grieb for county Support Russell for commissioner commissioner I d The Editor: The job of Morrow County Commissioner is a half time job that pays a half-time salary. The duties of the commissioner are to attend weekly county court meetings and to attend to other county business as designated by the county court. The county has three commissioners, one full-time, who is the county judge and chairman of the commission, and the other two, who are considered halftime. Each commissioner is designated to serve as a liaison with various entities such as the neighborhood centers and the chambers of commerce in the county communities. Ken Grieb has served as county commissioner for two terms and as such he has 90 plus percent of attendance at county court meetings, and he has always been accessible to any entity that has questions or problems that the county can help with. In addition to operating a sizable farming operation, Ken and his wife Carri have been long-time volunteers at both the elementary school and the junior, senior high school. Ken has devoted countless hours working with the youth of the area in youth soccer, baseball, basketball (where he currently coaches) and the youth golf program, as well as volunteering for the reading program to help kids get their reading level to a higher standard. We feel that Ken’s experience in county government has given him access to other county and state officials, and has given him the experience working within the confines of government for the greater good of the citizens of Morrow County. We feel the current county court has done a good job of maintaining a solid financial position for the county, which has been extremely important in these difficult economic times. We feel that Ken’s devotion to the citizens of the county and in particular his work with the youth of the area makes for the good solid citizen that we need in county government. Please join us in voting for Ken Grieb for Morrow County Commissioner. (s) Raymond Michael, Boardman Words of support for Don Russell End taxpayer-funded abortions To the editor: Every day tax-paying Oregonians provide the revenue for 11 abortions. That adds up to over 4,000 abortions that Oregon taxpayers fund every year. If you believe that surgically ending the life of a living baby (the baby's heartbeat begins at six weeks) is an acceptable form of birth control, this letter is not for you. If you do not believe in abortion as a choice for birth control, then are you willing to sign a petition to allow all Oregonians a voting opportunity to stop our tax revenues from being spent for abortions? This petition drive needs your support. The unborn cannot speak or defend themselves. You can go to www. Oregon2014.org for petitions. You can contact your pastor if you attend a Bible-believing church. You can contact me and 1 will send you petitions. Only the Samaritan was willing to help his neighbor in distress. The others were unwilling to get involved. The reason 1 am writing this letter is to illustrate one small but inescapable truth. Those unborn babies have a Heavenly Father. We all know the difference between right and wrong. We have an opportunity to do the right thing and defend and protect the unborn by ending taxpayer funding for abortion. 1 exhort my fellow East Oregonians to get your names on that petition before the deadline early this summer.
