I FOUR - Heppner Gazette-Times, Heppner, Oregon Mustang golf takes John Day tournament This past Friday, the Heppner High School golf teams travelled to John Day to compete with teams from Bums, Wallowa, Enterprise and Grant Union high schools. It was a warm and sunny day at the challenging nine- hole John Day Golf Club. T h is c o u r se has strategically placed water and trees that make it tough to get around, with few level spots on the course and the need to play to many elevated greens. The Mustang boys' team had another great outing. Their team score o f 335 blew away the field. Maddie Lindsay shot a 95 on the day and finished second overall. Paige Grieb played her best round of the year so far and finished with a 99 to place third. Emily Rea shot a good score of 111 and Amanda Rea carded a 129. Both Mustang teams travel to Umatilla this Friday for a match at Big River Golf Course. Mustang softball splits scores on Friday twinbill The Mustang softball team split a double-header against Irrigon last Friday, April 11. The Heppner/lone girls won 6-1 against the first game against the Irrigon team but then lost in a 0-7 shutout in the afternoon 800 Meters - Varsity - Finals 3. The men came away with 10th place while the women were 20th out of a field of 24. They next go up against Pilot Rock/ Nixyaawii in a home game this Friday at 4 p.m. Heppner, lone proms this Saturday Heppner and lone high school students will be donning their finest for the big dance this Saturday, April 19. lone prom will begin at 8 p.m. and Heppner at 9 p.m. The Heppner High School prom court has been selected. Court members are JC Putman, Treston Maben, Jordan Bailey, Jeff Dowdy, Tate Gentry, Kayla Kindle, Samm Lemmon, Nicole Kempken, Jyla Dyer and Blake Greenup. The lone High School court will be announced at prom. Sixteen ladies took to the W illow Creek Country Club course for a beautiful day o f golf Tuesday, April 8. Low gross of the field was taken by Darcee Mitchell, low net by Betty Burns and least putts by Loa Heideman, Karen Thompson and Jan Paustian. For flight A, low gross was Eva Kilkenny, low net was Corol Mitchell and long drive was Karen Thompson. On flight B, Carri Grieb took low gross, Lorrene Montgomery had low net, Betty Burns had least putts and Jan Paustian had the long drive. For flight C, Betty Carlson took low gross; low net was Pat Dougherty, and Jennifer Jaca took least putts and long drive. Over the Tee Cup - - - - 00.00 - lone, Heppner middle schools compete in Riverside invitational Both Heppner and lone middle school students com peted in the April 10 R iverside Jr. High Invitational at Riverside Jr./Sr. High School in Boardman. For the men, Heppner took fourth with 63 points and lone placed ninth with 10. Heppner placed sixth for the women with a score of 31, while lone women placed eighth with 24.33.
