Collins receives NRA scholarship Heppner Day Care will hold a tri-tip dinner fundraiser Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Heppner Elk’s Club. Dinner will include tri-tip steaks, cheesy potatoes, Caesar salad, rolls, a drink and peach cobbler a la mode. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under. Proceeds will go to purchase a new roof and playground safety equipment for the day care. Call 541-676-5429 for more information. H e p p n e r g ra d u a te Maggie Collins recently received a 2013 Oregon Friends o f NRA $1,000 scholarship. In the aw ard letter, Oregon NRA Chairman Dr. Maurizio Valerio stated that Maggie ranked first among all applicants. “ T h e p a n e l w as im p re s se d w ith y o u r academic achievem ents, First Friday Friends of Jesus is about to begin its fourth year. Normally held on the first Friday of each month during the school year, this year’s first session will be held on the second Friday in Septem ber (the 13,h) because school is in session on Sept. 6. C hildren ages four through 12 are invited to a morning filled with Bible stories, crafts, games and songs. A free lunch is served, and there is no cost to attend. Sept. 3, meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 10. The City Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Boardman City Hall Council Chambers.
