announce the engagement of their daughter/niece Brittnee
DesBouillons, 24, of Hermiston, OR to Clayton Schmith.

The couple is planning a wedding next year at Moore
Mansion in Pasco, WA. Paul Johnson of Sandy, OR will

NRA scholarship
Heppner Day Care will hold a tri-tip dinner fundraiser
Thursday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. at the Heppner Elk’s Club.
Dinner will include tri-tip steaks, cheesy potatoes,
Caesar salad, rolls, a drink and peach cobbler a la mode.
Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under.
Proceeds will go to purchase a new roof and playground
safety equipment for the day care.

Reynold C. Nelson—Reynold C. Nelson, 82, of lone
died Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial
Hospital in Heppner. He was bom October 5, 1930 in
Grasston, MN. A memorial service was held Tuesday,
August 27, in lone. Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner is in
charge of arrangements.

Boardman council
changes September
meeting date
The Boardman City Council has moved their
regularly scheduled Tuesday. Sept. 3, meeting to Tuesday,
Sept. 10. The City Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
at Boardman City Hall Council Chambers.
Community lunch menu
Amazing Grace Fellowship church members will
serve lunch on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at St. Patrick’s Senior
Center. The meal will include a pork tamale pie, Mexican
rice, green salad, sliced tomatoes, corn chips and salsa,
and flan. Milk is served at each meal.
Suggested donation is $3.50 per meal. Menu is subject
to change.

a behavioral specialist.
She received her master’s
degree in curriculum and
instruction through the
University o f Idaho. She
then moved to Pendleton,
w here she was special
education coordinator at
InterMountain Education
Service District.
Crane-Simpson, who
has two children, Jayne,
nine, and Finn, six, received
her administrator's license
through Lewis & Clark
C ollege, and is now in
the process of getting her
doctorate in educational
leadership through Lewis
& Clark.
“I’m loving living in
lone,” she said. “I’m loving
walking to work and the
kids have already made
some friends.”
“ I th in k lo n e is a
fabulous school, but one
of the challenges I have
is coming into a fabulous
school and continuing the
great work that’s already
been done,” she adds.
Crane-Simpson, who
is single, enjoys reading,
hi ki ng, e x p l o r i n g the
outdoors and camping in
her spare time.
