The six were: Cori Jo Lindsay, daughter of Joe and Leanne Lindsay; Alex Victorio, son of Delia Victorio; Jace Coe, son of Scott and Nikki Coe; Keegan Steagall, son of John and Jennifer Steagall; Mikel Jaca, son of David and Jennifer Jaca; and Bri an Lindsay, son of Barney and Kimberly Lindsay. This special oc casion in their lives was marked with a reception in the parish hall, where the first communicants, family members and friends had a light luncheon and cake. The kids also took time to open gifts from well-wish ers as they started a new chapter in their Catholic development. The bright, sunny weather was a double blessing on a memorable day. Logan said he knew he had hit a good shot but, with the el evated green, the hole isn’t visible from the tee box. He and fellow golfer Kolby Currin searched around the green until Kolby checked the cup and found Logan’s ball. This was Logan’s first ace as well. Logan is a 13-year-old seventh-grader at Heppner Jr./Sr. High School and competes in junior g olf tournam ents throughout the spring and summer. Community lunch menu St. Patrick’s Catho- lic Parish members will serve lunch on Wednesday, May 9, at St. Patrick’s Se nior Center. The meal will include chicken pot pie, stewed tom atoes, salad, biscuits and pudding. Menu is subject to change. The lone track team attended the Goldendale Meet on Friday, April 27, at Goldendale High School. The team had 11 PRs, two new benchmarks and one season best. Those with PRs include: Justin Estabrook, 100M , 1 2 .5 6 a ; B a i ley H aguewood, 100M, 12 .9 la; Evan Rietmann, 200M, 24.04a and Charlette Burghard, 800M, 2:54.33a, with a spectacular pass at the finish line to win the race. PRs in the field were discus throw ers Jeremy Coleman, 93 ’4”; Trent Can non 87’ 10” ; Kaid Peck, with an awesome throw of 53’, 10 feet further than his personal best; and Emily Holland, 72’9”. In shot put and javelin, Dominika Sen- kerikova’s face beamed with joy over her PRs of 25’7” in shot put and I00’5”in javelin. In long jump, Kaid Peck PRed again with a jump of 9’8.75”. Shadow Kendrick had a season best jump in long jump, just short of her personal record, with a leap of I5’l ”. Jeremy Coleman threw a season best in jav elin with 72’. M akenna Ramos set a benchmark time of l : 11.04A in the 400M. The b o y s’ team placed fourth overall and the girls placed third. A t C ondon, the Cardinals improved again with 12 personal records set, two more season best marks and one benchmark. PRs from Condon include: 100M: Luke Em mel, 11.87; Justin Esta brook, 12.44; Kaid Peck, 18.35. 200M: Evan Riet mann, 24.02; Justin Esta brook, 25.9. 800M: Fran cisco Ramirez, 2:26.25. 4x100 Relay: boys, 47.74; girls, 55.11. Shot put: Kaid Peck, 14’8”. Javelin: Luke Emmel, 141 ’ 1 ” ; Jeremy Coleman, 79’ 10”. Triple jump: Bailey Haguewood, 38’2.5”. Season bests were Shadow Kendrick in high jump, 4 ’2”, Jeremy Cole man in the 1500M with 7:9.91, and the men’s 4x400 relay team with 3:50.48, winning a commemorative baton for their third-place finish. The inscribed baton was given to the top three finishes in the 4x400M re lay, both boys and girls. The b o y s’ team placed fifth o f 15 teams and the girls tied for fourth with Bickleton, WA. O v erall, it was a winning weekend with good w eather and good performances by the whole team. The Cardinals travel to Heppner Friday and then to Portland on Saturday. Mustang girls shine in golf tournament The Heppner Mustang girls’ golf team played a great game at the Pendleton Country Club on April 20, with a team score of 436. Team members and scores were: Blake Greenup, 96; Jordan Peterson, 104; Maddie Lindsay, 112; Paige Grieb, 134 and Stacy Halvorsen, 124. The girls played against teams from Bums, Cove, Enterprise, Grant Union, Horizon Christian, Nixyaawii, Nyssa, Union, Wallowa and Pendleton. Bank of Ed Berretta.
