When talking about Heppner while I was living in Portland I was told more than once that it sounded like I was talking about “heaven”. In some ways that is true about my feelings. I moved to Heppner with grand plans to find a home and move my mother, Ada Simpson, in with me. She was 94 years old but we both hoped we would still have a few years together. Unfortunately, I had only been here four days when she had a stroke and after eight days passed away.
