Seniors at Heppner High School are raffling off baskets for their Senior 2012 Project Graduation during the week of the St. Patrick's Day Celebration T ick ets w ill be available at the O'Donkey Basketball game at HHS on March 14, the Irish Boxing Smoker at HHS on the 16th, at a table in front of Bank of Eastern Oregon on March 17 and during the entertain ment featured at Heppner Elementary School on the 17lh at 6:30 p.m. Students and par ents will be selling tickets for four baskets, including a men’s basket, a woman’s basket, a couples’ basket and a golf basket. The bas kets will be on display at Murray’s Drug. E x citin g basket contents include a Wild- horse getaw ay package with an overnight stay for two, two rounds o f golf and a casino fun book; a $40 gift certificate for Murray’s beverages; wine glasses and chocolate; two rounds of golf at Willow Creek Country Club; golf for two with cart at Stone Creek course in Oregon City; a $25 gift certificate to Bucknum’s Tavern; a one- day sturgeon-fishing trip for two on the Columbia; $50 gas card from Devon Oil, $70 individual sports’ pass from HHS; a 30-minute massage from Tamara Lob- dell; five tans from styles by Stefanie; and much, much more. The event will in clude a sandwich and salad bar, and no-host bar pro vided by The Office Pub. Poker buy-in is $40; buy-in starts at 6 p.m. with play starting at 6:30. No late buy-ins allowed. A youth-sized Ros si Tri Fecta Rifle will be raffled. The rifle has three barrels: a .243, .22 long and a 20-guage. Raffle tickets can be purchased from any lone Legion or Auxiliary member; Pettyjohn’s Build ers are also selling tickets, and they have the rifle on hand for anyone w ho would like to see it. Must be 18 years o f age or older to purchase rifle tickets. The Legion is also selling raffle tickets for beef. There will be two drawings, with one-half beef for each winning ticket drawn. OTPR to hold public meeting The Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo Committee will hold an open meeting on March 12 at 7 p.m. at the rodeo office to discuss the upcoming Morrow County Rodeo rules. Topics under discussion include whether the MOCO rodeo should be open to alumni spouses and their children, and whether contestants’ county residency requirement should be changed from one year to three months. Lots o f activities are planned for the 30,h annual Wee Bit O ’ Ire land Celebration. Things start earlier this year with an O ’Donkey Basketball Game between Heppner FFA and School Staff on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. in the Heppner High School gym. Everyone is also reminded to take in “From Cenacle to Calvary,” the play w ritten by Father Condon, with music by Joe Lindsay, on Thursday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic par ish hall. Or, get ready to rumble as a participant or observer at the Heppner Chamber/Y 102 fifth annual Irish Boxing Smoker on Friday, March 16 at Hep pner High School. Participate or be a spectator in the St. Paddy’s Arena Cross, Cruz In or Great Green Parade, or the Remembrance Walk and 5K Run. Cheer the children on as they participate in the Leprechaun Run. Tap your toes at the KUMA Coffee Hour or Ceili. Indulge a taste for the arts by shopping at the Vendor’s Square, checking out the arts and crafts dis play at Les Schwab, perus ing the Wee Bit O' Western Fine Art Photography by Denise Smith and Celia Moyer at the City Park; buying a book or two to support the Friends of the Library book sale; or check ing out Morrow County Heritage and Agricultural Museums. Participate in the lighter side of the festivi ties with “Ewe-Do-Bingo,” “O ’Ducky Race" and “O ’ Kiddie Tricycle Races.” Or, try your hand at the “Throw the Welly” competition. Rest assured, there will be more than enough during this year’s festivities to keep anyone busy. Also, remember to stop and shop at our local merchants who have stocked up to serve their community. Stop by and watch the Sheep Dog Trials (Sat urday and Sunday) as part of the activities. Stick around Saturday evening for more great entertainment, includ ing the Gothard Sisters at the Heppner Elementary School gym from 7-9:30 p.m. and the Old Time Fid dlers at the Morrow County Fairgrounds starting at 6:30 p.m. until the fiddlers are too tuckered out to fiddle anymore. O f c o u r s e , it wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s without the road bowling on Sunday. Sign up to par ticipate, as entries will be limited. Finally, there is lots of great food planned for everyone’s enjoyment. Local food vendors are getting ready, along with a few outside vendors, to test your taste buds. Check out the local food vendor map with days, times and special menus made especially for St. Patrick’s weekend. Don’t forget to check out Mrs. O’Leary’s stew feed at St. Patrick’s Senior Center on Friday from 5-7 p.m. On Saturday, visit St. Pat’s ham dinner and homemade pies at St. Patrick's Catholic Church from 4-7 p.m., or the Elks Irish Buffet Dinner of Corned Beef and Cab bage from 6-9 p.m. All the weekend's entertainment is free, spon sored again by the Morrow County Unified Recreation District. C ome see ALL THE "G reens " The Morrow Pacific project is being developed to provide a coal export route to U.S. trade allies in the Asia-Pacific market. With your support, it will also provide new jobs and economic opportunity in Morrow County. Creating Jobs New Yankee candle scent "lucky sh a m ro ck ” The project, which is being developed by Ambre Energy, will bring an estimated 25 jobs to Morrow County. It will also create 25 jobs in Columbia County and 55 jobs in the transportation of coal - for a total of 105 local jobs overall. These will be family-wage jobs with benefits, in the range of $50,000 to $90,000 per year.
