ents will be selling tickets
for four baskets, including
a men’s basket, a woman’s
basket, a couples’ basket
and a golf basket. The bas­
kets will be on display at
Murray’s Drug.

95 asks everyone to save
the day for the eighth an­
nual Texas Hold 'Em Poker
Tournam ent, Bingo and
Bake Sale fundraiser on
March 24.
The event will in­
clude a sandwich and salad
bar, and no-host bar pro­
vided by The Office Pub.
Poker buy-in is $40; buy-in
starts at 6 p.m. with play
starting at 6:30. No late
buy-ins allowed.
A youth-sized Ros­
si Tri Fecta Rifle will be
raffled. The rifle has three
barrels: a .243, .22 long and
a 20-guage. Raffle tickets
can be purchased from any
lone Legion or Auxiliary
member; Pettyjohn’s Build­
ers are also selling tickets,
and they have the rifle on
hand for anyone w ho would
like to see it. Must be 18
years o f age or older to
purchase rifle tickets.
The Legion is also
selling raffle tickets for
beef. There will be two
drawings, with one-half
beef for each winning ticket
drawn.
The raffle tickets
for both beef and rifle are
one for $1 or six for $5.

OTPR to hold
public meeting
The Oregon Trail Pro Rodeo Committee will hold
an open meeting on March 12 at 7 p.m. at the rodeo office
to discuss the upcoming Morrow County Rodeo rules.
Topics under discussion include whether the
MOCO rodeo should be open to alumni spouses and
their children, and whether contestants’ county residency
requirement should be changed from one year to three
months.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Anyone who
is unable to attend but would like to provide input may

committee member.

FFA and School Staff on
Wednesday, March 14 at 7
p.m. in the Heppner High
School gym.
Everyone is also
reminded to take in “From
Cenacle to Calvary,” the
play w ritten by Father
Condon, with music by
Joe Lindsay, on Thursday,
March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at
St. Patrick's Catholic par­
ish hall.
Or, get ready to
rumble as a participant or
observer at the Heppner
Chamber/Y 102 fifth annual
Irish Boxing Smoker on
Friday, March 16 at Hep­
pner High School.

lighter side of the festivi­

Kiddie Tricycle Races.” Or,
try your hand at the “Throw
the Welly” competition.
Rest assured, there
will be more than enough
during this year’s festivities
to keep anyone busy. Also,
remember to stop and shop
at our local merchants who
have stocked up to serve
their community.
Stop by and watch
the Sheep Dog Trials (Sat­
urday and Sunday) as part of
the activities. Stick around
Saturday evening for more
great entertainment, includ­
ing the Gothard Sisters at
the Heppner Elementary
School gym from 7-9:30
p.m. and the Old Time Fid­
dlers at the Morrow County
Fairgrounds starting at 6:30
p.m. until the fiddlers are
too tuckered out to fiddle
anymore.

wouldn’t be St. Patrick’s
without the road bowling
on Sunday. Sign up to par­
ticipate, as entries will be
limited.
Finally, there is
lots of great food planned
for everyone’s enjoyment.

for St. Patrick’s weekend.

bage from 6-9 p.m.

The Morrow Pacific project is being developed to provide a coal export
route to U.S. trade allies in the Asia-Pacific market. With your support, it
will also provide new jobs and economic opportunity in Morrow County.
Creating Jobs

The project, which is being developed by Ambre Energy, will bring an
estimated 25 jobs to Morrow County. It will also create 25 jobs in Columbia
County and 55 jobs in the transportation of coal - for a total of 105 local
jobs overall. These will be family-wage jobs with benefits, in the range of
$50,000 to $90,000 per year.
Supporting Morrow County
The local economy will benefit in other ways as well.
■ The project will pay an estimated $750,000 in property taxes to
Morrow County annually and $850,000 in annual fees to the Port

of Morrow, based on initial shipping estimates of 3.5 million tons.
■ In addition, Ambre will make an annual voluntary contribution of
approximately $350,000 to schools in Morrow County, based on
a 10-cents-per-ton contribution.
