He said it would also be better from a secu rity standpoint. Dirksen said that he is planning to file the bond m easure with the Morrow County Clerk on March 7 and then meet with the school district levy committee that evening. Dirksen said he has met with staff on budget reductions and had planned to discuss cuts with affected staff on March 6. Staff' re ductions are complicated, as some staff positions will be cut, but because of senior ity, those persons will be as signed to another position, while some staff could be retiring and others resign ing. Dirksen met with the board and administrators in executive session fol lowing the special meeting regarding specific staff cuts, but still had to speak to the affected teachers prior to announcing those being cut or reassigned. He said he would announce the staff affected by the cuts and reassignments at the regular meeting on March 12. The event, spon sored by the Heppner Unit ed Methodist Church, will be held at St. P atrick's Senior Center in Heppner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16. The cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children six to 12. Children five and under are free. Proceeds will help support the work o f the church in the community. A free family movie night will be held this Sat urday at 7 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Heppner. The movie shown will be Courageous, a story about four men with one calling to serve and protect. When tragedy strikes one of the men’s families, all four men find themselves wrestling with hopes, fears, faith and fathering. This family movie is a must-see for dads, grandfathers and dads-to-be.
