ary and made 4-11 Jackpot Drop Cookies. Pictured is leader,
Erin lleideman. helping member Payton Miller sift Hour for
her recipe as member Tyler Carter looks on. As a community
service project, the group makes an extra batch of everything
they prepare and delivers it for "tasting” somewhere. Last
month, their goods joined the morning coffee service at
in lone; this month, they delivered a pan to the lone Commu
nity Church council meeting as a thank you for letting them
use their facilities. The group meets once or twice a month at

MCSD business
manager Andy Fletcher said,
“It would make more sense
to have them in Boardman
where 70 percent o f our
students are.”
He said it would
reduce costs because the
district has someone in
Hermiston who could more
easily travel to Boardman
and reboot the system, if
necessary. He said it would
also be better from a secu
rity standpoint.
Dirksen said that
he is planning to file the
bond m easure with the
Morrow County Clerk on
March 7 and then meet
with the school district levy
committee that evening.
Dirksen said he has
met with staff on budget
reductions and had planned
to discuss cuts with affected
staff on March 6. Staff' re
ductions are complicated, as
some staff positions will be
cut, but because of senior
ity, those persons will be as
signed to another position,
while some staff could be
retiring and others resign
ing. Dirksen met with the
board and administrators
in executive session fol
lowing the special meeting
regarding specific staff cuts,
but still had to speak to the
affected teachers prior to
announcing those being cut
or reassigned. He said he
would announce the staff
affected by the cuts and
reassignments at the regular
meeting on March 12.
