Once the weather cleared and the mats rolled out, though, the mat men came out to pin their op ponents. H e p p n e r 's j u nior high team consists of Ryan Smith, Riley Gor ham, Kai Arbogast, Cord Flynn, Duke Harmon, Will Lutcher, Patrick Collins and Skyler Palmer. The team is coached by Brian Harmon, Steve Cherry, Larry Lutcher and Larry Palmer. The team has par ticipated in m atches in Pendleton, The Dalles and least three matches. Hep pner is holding its own, competitive against 3A, 4A and 5 A schools. Several team members have win ning records. H eppner will be hosting junior high matches on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. Teams participating are H erm iston, Irrigon, Riverside and Grant Union. Heppner fans are invited to come out and see some take-downs, reversals and near falls. Anyone who would like to volunteer would be appreciated; call 676-9857 for more information. ‘Love Your Library’ open house planned The Friends of the Heppner Library are plan ning an open house at the library on Thursday, Febru ary 16 from 7 to 8 p.m. All community members and library patrons are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. Bill Kuhn will pres ent the Friends of the Hep pner Library annual report and recognize the library Volunteer of the Year. Boufford will speak on the Mango Language Program. This new language-learning program will be available for free at the library and online. Richmond will give an introductory presentation on “Using Your E-reader to Access Your Library,” ex plaining how library card holders with e-readers can download books from the Oregon Trail Library Dis trict for free. Raffle tickets for a Kindle also will go on sale at the meeting. The drawing for the Kindle will be Sat urday afternoon, March 17, at the close of the Friends of the Heppner Library St. Patrick's book sale. Anyone interested in coaching, volunteering or being an umpire/scorekeeper is encouraged to attend. The time will be used to select coaches and schedule a registration date.
