C oach W eip er’s exuberance showed in his comments, “After giving up 36 points in the first half, our team responded extremely well to shut out Dayville/Monument in the second half. 1 was very pleased with our effort and the way we responded when we were down two touch downs in the first half. We were able to make a num ber of big plays when we needed them. Nov 4 7pm vs Irrigon The volleyball team will play Pilot Rock, also Nov 12 1st Round Play offs beginning at 5 p.m. Nov 19 Quarter Finals Nov 26 Semi Finals Dec 3 State Finals Agricultural & Commercial Loans The Heppner High School Varsity Volleyball team has been working hard during pre-season preparing for the league opener this Thursday her in Heppner against Pilot Rock with the JV game starting at 4:30 p.m. and varsity play begin ning around 6 p.m. This year’s team is a mix of a great bunch of kids from all four grades of high school. They have been fortunate to get a lot of time in the gym and have many different players on the floor. They have shown some promise at times and are continuing to progress as a team. The varsity team has played in four tourna ments. They traveled to Yakima Sept. 9 in a 32-team tournament. Playing in the second seed, they posted a win over Annie Wright and Selah JV. They played G oldendale in the final game and lost, but played great volleyball. Their fin ish was in the tope 10 of all 32 schools. A fter pool play, they faced Waitsburg/ Prescott and lost the match in three games. They pro ceeded to beat Helix to play Enterprise in the final game for fifth place, winning the round in two games in a strong finish as a team. He said disabled people as a group have a large dispos able income and make good customers if you work to make your business acces sible to them.
