H e p p n e r G aze tte-T im es, Heppner, O regon W ednesday, January 12,2011 - THREE Morrow County Court weekly meeting held The Morrow Coun ty Court met on January 5 in Heppner with Judge Tail- man, Commissioner Grieb, and Commissioner Rea in attendance. Following is a summary of the meeting provided by Leann Rea. The court reviewed and approved the follow ing minutes: December 8th, De cember 15,h, and December 29th. The court reviewed and approved the account payables in the net total amount of $124,859.79. R oad R e p o r t: The crew has been remov ing snow and snow drifts throughout the county. The Crusher Crew is finishing up with maintenance and is preparing to move to the Halverson pit. The Brush Crew consisting of four in dividuals is 90% completed in the Boardman area. They will then move to the Ir- rigon area. Coal Mine Hill has been closed for the snow season and the con crete barriers have been put in place. There is a two man crew cleaning culverts in the lone area and are work ing their way back towards Lexington. Graders: There is one grader working on the County Line Road and the east part of Homestead Lane. When those roads are completed he will be mov ing to the Boardman area. One grader is doing touch up work on Nolan Road and Morter Lane. One grader is working on the Hard man Ridge Road and the Sunflower Flat Road. Burk O ’Brian provided a report of future projects and stated that he will be providing the court with a written report in the near future. O'Brian also reported that they are w orking on some grant applications for a chip seal project on Willow Creek Road and a paving project for a portion of Sunflower Flat Road. Sheriff’s Report: Sheriff Ken Matlack pro vided the court with the following update: Irrigon & Boardman Areas - A robbery at Bakes Lounge, a deputy was in the area and-the suspect was appre hended within two minutes. Located some stolen mari juana plants, which lead to a confrontation with guns. A stolen vehicle with a large compressor in the back was recovered on Paul Smith Road. An investigation is continuing regarding an employee arrested for theft at the Irrigon High School. The investigation o f the m urder in Boardm an is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sheriff’s office. Hep pner and South County Areas: No outstanding issues or calls other that a number of Moving Vehicle Accidents due to the icy roads. Juvenile Depart ment Quarterly Update: Tom Meier, director provid ed the court with detention stats. In the 7/1/2007 thru 6/30 2008 there were 24 admissions, 7/1/2008 thru 6/30 2009 there were 18 admissions, 7/1/2009 thru 6/30 2010 there were 16 admissions, and then from 7/1/2010 thru 12/31/2010 there have been 15 admis sions. If this pattern con tinues the case load will be substantially higher than it has been for the last few years. The court conduct ed the following business: The court authorized the payment o f $2,000 from the court’s Discretionary Fund for the continuation of work with six other Eastern Oregon Counties (The Blue Mountain Forest Planning Team) to assist in obtaining Federal Forest Funds. The court re-appointed Judge Tallman to the Greater East ern Oregon Development C o rp o ratio n (G EO D C) Board. Three letters of sup port for various grants were reviewed and signed. The court reviewed and signed a Purchasing Pre-Autho rization for the Special Transportation Fund for the purchase of a new computer in the amount of $ 1,430.29. Reviewed and approved a request for an extension of Needs & Issues Awards for the Town of Lexington. Various correspon dences and upcoming meet ing notices were reviewed and discussed. Community Lunch Menu Christian Life Center members will be serving lunch on Wednesday, January 19, at St. Patrick’s Senior Center.
