Guest conductor, Dr. Beau Ben son will take listeners to a new world of sound with Dvorak’s Symphony #9. The OES loves to perform newly composed music, especially when it comes from a composer of Chris Thomas’s caliber. This original movie medley will have you dancing in your seats and begging for more. In keeping with OES tradition, this concert highlights the musical tal- ents o f exemplary young musicians, accompanied by the orchestra. Cellist Tasha Sitz, winner of the 2010 OES Young Artist Compe tition senior division, will pluck at your heart strings with the melancholy Elegy, by Gabriel Faure. Sitz is no stranger to the stage. She performs regularly with the PHS String Orchestra, the A Sharp Players, and the Capelli string quartet and with the OES. Violinist Rebecca Stamm Damall is a skill ful pianist, teaching piano classes and accompanying. She is presently the concert- master of Washington State U niversity’s Symphony Orchestra. She currently plays with the OES and the Yakima Symphony among others. She will treat you to the energetic Fantasy (On Russian Themes) op. 33 by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakoff, which won her the Young Adult division of the 2010 OES Young Artist Compe tition. Dr. Beau Benson, of Waco, TX is the fourth candidate to audition in the OES search for a new Music Director/Conductor. “It’s a New World” begins at 7.30 p.m. in the Vert Auditorium, at S W 4th and Dorian Streets in Pend leton.
