Those planning to attend should RSVP their attendance no later than Wednesday, July 28, so enough lunch and seating can be accommodated The Oregon De partment o f Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking comm ents from the busi ness community regarding proposed controls and con tinued operation of PGE’s Boardman coal fired elec tricity generating facility. The facility is fac ing several sets o f regula tory requirements to control various emissions plus un known future expenditures to meet possible federal or state greenhouse mandates. “Because o f the associated high capital and op erat ing costs for such a wide ran g e o f c o n tro ls, PGE has proposed to install a subset o f the controls and operate the plant until 2020, after which time the load would be replaced by a new natural gas fired facility and other sources,” said a PGE news release. Both fisheries had been extended since July 12 because o f high water levels that re duced fishing opportunities and larger-than-expected returns to both rivers. The court reviewed and approved the minutes from the July 14 meeting. The court reviewed and approved account pay ables in the net total amount o f $177,956.58 which in cludes the $17,225.00 that was w ithheld last week. Also reviewed the Pooled Cash R eport provide by G ayle G utierrez, county treasurer. Road Report: The c r e ^ is continuing w ith pothole patching around the county, including pot holes on M organ R oad, McElligott Road, Dee Cox Road, Balm Fork Road, S ocial R idge Lane and Io n e -G o o se b e rry R oad. They are currently working on Dry Fork Road. The crew has been watering, grading and roll ing Morter Lane in prepara tion for putting down dust abatement. The JVB Dairy has helped by hauling water with their water truck when it was available. The crew was to start W ednesday with the dust abatem ent, and should have it finished by Thursday. A grader has been grading on some rough po rtio n s o f the Penland Lake Road and the Ditch Creek Road. The crew is in the process o f moving the crusher units from the Clarks Canyon pit to the OHV pit. On July 20 the crew had their annual mine safety training for the entire crew. This training covers mine safety as well as first aid , C P R and A ED u s age. Signs on Tower Road, Kunze Lane and Columbia Avenue were replaced or repaired. Burke O ’Brien, public works director pro vided the court w ith an amended work schedule fir July, August and September. O ’Brien then reported that at this time there is no plan to do any paving projects. In stead the paving d o l lars will be spent on doing patching work on several roads. O ’Brien also stated that the Road Committee was to meet on July 27lh at the Port o f Morrow where they will be w orking on some long range planning for road improvements. Public Hearing: Boardman Rural Fire District uses social network sites to improve communication In an effort to com municate better with the popu lation it serves, the Board- man Rural Fire District has launched Facebook and Twit- ter pages to reach as broad a segment of Boardman resi dents as possible. The court upheld the planning com mission’s recommendation to approve this application. The approxim ate 30-acre site will be deemed by the county to be a significant source of aggregate site and to approve the mining o f the aggregate. The comprehen sive plan and map will be amended to include the site and a “significant resource overlay zone” will apply to this area. Planning: Carla M cLane, planning direc tor, provided the second reading for the Sidney and Randy Britt aggregate site ordinance. The court then adopted and signed the ordinance for the approxi mately 40 acres aggregate site in the Big Butter Creek Road area.
