CenturyLink will be the speaker for Thursday’s
chamber lunch meeting. They will be making giving a
presentation about CenturyLink and talking about the
mergers with Embarq and Qwest and community involve
ment in the communities they serve.
Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. and the cost will
be $9. M urray’s will be catering the lunch and will be
serving barbecue beef sandwiches, salad and dessert.

The facility is fac
ing several sets o f regula
tory requirements to control
various emissions plus un
known future expenditures
to meet possible federal or
state greenhouse mandates.
“Because o f the associated
high capital and op erat
ing costs for such a wide
ran g e o f c o n tro ls, PGE
has proposed to install a
subset o f the controls and
operate the plant until 2020,
after which time the load
would be replaced by a new
natural gas fired facility and
other sources,” said a PGE
news release.

emergency closure o f the
spring chinook fishery on
the Imnaha and Wallowa
rivers effective at sundown
on Sunday, July 25. Both
fisheries had been extended
since July 12 because o f
high water levels that re
duced fishing opportunities
and larger-than-expected
returns to both rivers.

The court reviewed
and approved the minutes
from the July 14 meeting.
The court reviewed
and approved account pay
ables in the net total amount
o f $177,956.58 which in
cludes the $17,225.00 that
was w ithheld last week.

treasurer.
Road Report: The

the county, including pot
holes on M organ R oad,
McElligott Road, Dee Cox
Road, Balm Fork Road,

They are currently working
on Dry Fork Road.
The crew has been
watering, grading and roll
ing Morter Lane in prepara
tion for putting down dust
abatement. The JVB Dairy
has helped by hauling water
with their water truck when
it was available. The crew
was to start W ednesday
with the dust abatem ent,
and should have it finished
by Thursday. A grader has
been grading on some rough
po rtio n s o f the Penland
Lake Road and the Ditch
Creek Road. The crew is
in the process o f moving
the crusher units from the
Clarks Canyon pit to the
OHV pit. On July 20 the
crew had their annual mine
safety training for the entire
crew. This training covers
mine safety as well as first
aid , C P R and A ED u s
age. Signs on Tower Road,
Kunze Lane and Columbia
Avenue were replaced or
repaired. Burke O ’Brien,
public works director pro

amended work schedule fir

at this time there is no plan
