Glenn, joined with Dewey and Vem Russell in a partnership that came to fruition under the label of “L Casa De Vin.” D e w ey lo s t h is high school sw eetheart, wife and mother o f his chil dren, Larry and Dewena, in 1997, when Jeanne passed away after a prolonged ill ness. The following year, he married Jeannette Long at B oardm an’s C om m unity Church. O v e r th e y e a rs D ew ey was honored by numerous agencies and or ganizations expressing ap preciation for his commu nity service: These include the League o f Oregon Cit ies, East Central Oregon’s A ssociation o f Counties, Boardman and H eppner’s Cham bers o f Com m erce, and the Port o f Morrow. Dewey and Jeanne acted as Parade Marshals for the communities 4th o f July cel ebration and were honored as “Boardm an P ioneers” in 1956. Dewey is listed as a charter member o f the H e rm is to n ’s #1845 B e nevolent Protective Order o f Elks. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and the coast. Dewey is preceded in death by: his parents; his in-laws, Sam and Lela Beeks; his w ives Jeanne and Jeanette; by dear friends and neighbors, Evelyn and Ronald Black; and by cher ished friends, John Walker and Bill Gamer. Jackie Labhart Jackie Labhart, 81, passed away December 19, 2009, at the W illam ette Lutheran Retirement Com munity in Keizer. Jackie was bom in The Dalles on September 3, 1928, to Henry and Dorothy Tetz. J a c k ie g r a d u a t ed from Pendleton High School and attended the U n iv e rs ity o f O regon. She and Bill lived in Hep pner where she was ac tive in golf, Jackie Labhart PTA and the A m e ric a n L egion A uxiliary. They moved to John Day in 1961 w here she and Bill were founding members o f the “Prospector” High School B o o ste r C lub. She w as active at the St. Thom as Episcopal Church and in all her children’s activities. They moved to La Grande in 1972 where she was an avid golfer and an active v o lu n teer at the G rande Ronde Hospital. J a c k ie a n d B ill m oved to Salem in 1983 and settled in Salemtowne. G olf and many volunteer organizations were her pas sion, including the Assis tance League of Salem, the Salem Hospital Auxiliary, Mission Mill Museum As sociation, St. Anne’s Guild, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a Walton House vol unteer. Jackie was a natu ral athlete who played ten nis in college and excelled at swimming and golf. She possessed a beautiful talent for decorating and a flair for organizing and helping with fundraisers and community organizations. Jackie and Bill traveled the world and enjoyed the many cruises they took, especially their 5 0 th a n n iv e rs a ry c ru ise with their children. They fre q u e n tly talk e d about the fact that they fulfilled their “bucket list” and that friends and family meant everything to her. Jackie is survived by: her husband o f 61 years, Bill; their three children, C hris L ab h art and w ife K ris o f John Day, M ark Labhart and wife Melanie o f Tillamook, and Laurie Jaffe and husband Paul of Hamburg, NJ; her brother, Steve Tetz and his w ife Carol o f W olf Creek; five g ran d c h ild re n ; and five great-grandchi ldren.
