In the semi-finals he lost by one point to a wrestler from The Dalles Watonka. Coil finished the tournam ent placing fourth. Austin Harris, Jar- reid Miller and David Bem- tsen each advanced to the consolation championship in their weight classes. All faced tough opponents from 6A schools in the finals and came up short of the win. Tyler R obinson, Chance Day and Tim Nel son had strong performanc es and finished with two wins apiece. The tournament represent ed some o f the toughest competition the Mustangs will face all season with teams from IA/2A to 6A schools. The Mustang wres tlers proved that they are not afraid to mix it up w ith big schools and came aw ay with the small school first place trophy for the second year in a row. This year, however, it w asn’t even close. Heppner finished 50 points ahead of the nearest 1A/2A team in the tourna ment and 10 points ahead of fellow Morrow County School, Riverside. Lady Mustangs win championship game at Columbia River Classic The Lady M us tangs finished a success ful weekend, winning the championship game of the Columbia River Classic over Riverside 49-20. Playing with an increased intensity, the Mustangs scored 23 points in the third quarter to take a commanding lead over the Pirates. The wins moved the Cardinals’ season record to 4-2. It took just a cou ple minutes o f play for the Cardinals to establish dom inance over Joseph on Friday, December 11, in their opening game.
