G re g W alden (R -O re.) re c en t ly announced a $670,220 Assistance to Firefighters Grant ( AFG) for the Board- man Rural Fire Protection D istrict. The investm ent, which is aw arded by the Department o f Homeland Security, will provide four new paid firefighter posi tions. ‘T m always pleased to see responsible federal in v estm en ts being m ade for public services in our communities,” said Walden. '"The Boardman Rural Fire Protection District provides a critical service to the peo ple o f Boardman, so it’s es pecially fulfilling to see such a valuable institution have the o p p o rtu n ity to grow with four new firefighting positions.” B o ard m an R u ral F ire P ro tec tio n D istric t Les Schwab perfect attendance award winners named C hief Marc Rogelstad said, “We are really appreciative o f Representative Walden’s longstanding work for first responders. Catholic Men’s Conference set for Pendleton The Northwest Cath olic Men’s Conference will be held on February 27 and 28 at the Pendleton Conven tion Center. The conference will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday February 27 with a Bishop's Mass. The lineup of speak ers includes: Bishop Robert Vasa from the Baker Dio cese; Father Bailey Clem ens; Father Antoine Thomas o f EWTN; Father Mathew Hincks; and Father Robert Grenier. The conference will conclude Sunday afternoon with a testimony by Kellen Clemens, a graduate o f the University o f Oregon, who is currently a quarterback for the New York Jets foot ball team.
