Congratulations, girls and coaching staff! I’ve always been proud of HHS student athletes, but while attending the recent 2A State volleyball tournament, I could not help to think I have never been more proud of a team that had to handle so many different elements of surprise during their playoff reign (Lakeview, Nestucca, Elgin and Bonanza). During those matches, when the mo mentum was in their favor, at the worst time possible, disas ter would consume their court (and their fans!). True champions rise under pressure and it is meant for this particular team of volley ball players. The composure, skill and giving of one’s own individual limelight to com pete solely as a team, for the good of their team, put them in position to win their fourth place and sportsmanship tro phies. They were never de nied, when all odds where against them. From a fan standpoint, it was wonderful to see such teamwork, leadership and unselfishness from our girls. Our community is extremely proud of each player; they’ve been great ambassadors for HHS. Tradition did prevail - the fourth place match seemed like the championship game. We have much to look for ward to in 2009, but hate to say goodbye to our strong trio of seniors - Maggie, Sherilyn and Lenka. Susie Hisler 11-12-lp Thanks to all for the sup port you have given me dur ing my surgery and recovery. The cards, telephone calls, food, flowers have all made this “event” easier. A special thanks to Sharon and Keith for the transportation to and from the hospital and doctor visits. Also, a special thanks to my son Mike for stay ing with Delmer while I was away and continuing to stay after I got home. Thanks to Joyce and Jan for filling my spot at the Senior Center and to Steve, Les and Kathy for keeping me posted and doing my “job” with the Housing Authority. This is a wonderful community and I feel blessed to live here. God Bless, Judy Buschke 11-12-lp Grove to support our team during the state tournament this past weekend. Who knew the weekend would take the path it did and we would need every ounce of additional love and support we received? An extra special thank you for supporting our teammate, Sherilyn, and her family as she faced her unfortunate in jury. The journey through this season was a special one. One that many of us are sad is over. We appreciate your willingness to share part of that journey with us. One that produced enough memories to last a lifetime. Once again, we were all reminded what a fantastic community our small town truly is. Thank you. The family of )im Hayes: Barbara Hayes Jay, Diane & Jordan Hayes Loran, C indy, Hannah & Sam Hayes To the communities of Heppner, Lexington and lone: We cannot thank you enough and no words can express how much we appreciate all of your thoughts, condolenc es. love, prayers and support shown towards us these last 13 months. Cooper was an amazing little four year old. It was put best by his dad Dave when he said, “Everyone has an angel watching over them, however he felt extra special by the fact that he had the privilege of meeting his.” He not only is our angel in Heav en - he is and always will be our little “hero”! Thanks again from the bot tom of our hearts. Sincerely, Colene Baasch (Fed Ex), and the Family of Cooper Larson Please continue to pray for Cooper’s little buddy Aidan Zauggs from Richland, WA. who has this same rare brain tumor - that he receives his miracle and a cure is found. 11-12-lp The Mustang Volleyball team would like to thank the Heppner community for their wonderful support this season. Thank you to the parents who spent endless hours traveling to support our team, working in the concession stand, or ganizing the soup feed, host ing team dinners, stocking ice chests with drinks, water, and great treats. Most importantly, thank you for unconditionally supporting your daughters and encouraging our whole team. Thank you to the student body at HHS and HES who faithfully attended game after game and learned how much fun cheering for your school can be. “Whose House? Our House!” Thank you to the staff members from both schools who dedicated endless hours line judging, keeping clock, putting up notes and treats in the locker room and stuffing our bus with goodies, treats and well wishes as we went off on our trip to state. Thank you to the commu nity members who supported us attending home games and road playoff games. We feel honored that so many people enjoyed watching us play.
